Two Years...

More than two years without touching a pencil and then suddenly... 

BIRDS
Two years ago, I started a new series on birds's feathers. 
I've decided to start with a parrot. Something that you should know... I do not really like the little beasts at all. I find them murky and creepy. They follow you with their beady eyes I immediately imagine the movie "The Birds" by Hitchcock.

If I really enjoyed myself with the head, beak and eyes,  I fumbled with the feathers. So much that drawing started to become an obligation to finish more than really enjoying myself. In the end, I've decided to switch to something else.

Plus de deux ans sans toucher à un crayon et puis d'un coup...

LES OISEAUX
Deux ans en arrière, j'avais commencé une nouvelle série sur les plumes des oiseaux et je m'étais attaquée à un perroquet. Il faut savoir que je n'aime pas vraiment ces petites bêtes, je les trouve glauques. Elles vous suivent avec leurs yeux globuleux et je m'imagine immédiatement dans le film "les oiseaux" d'Hitchcock. 


Si je me suis régalée avec la tête, le bec et les yeux. J'ai cafouillé dans les plumes. Tellement que je ne suis pas allée au bout de mon dessin. 
Cela commençais à devenir plus une obligation de le finir que réellement un plaisir alors je suis passée à autre chose. 

THE TREE
To take a break, I wanted to work more on the material. So, I opted for a squirrel in a tree.

If the trunk, bark and knots in the wood have asked me time and application, once arriving at the animal, my motivation have dried completely.
Too bad, because I liked the rendering of the tree.

Evene if I think the squirrel is cute, I had no inspiration. So I looked for another challenge.

L'ARBRE
J'ai eu envie de travailler la matière alors j'ai opté pour un écureuil dans un arbre. Si le tronc, l'écorce et les noeuds dans le bois m'ont demandé du temps et de l'application, une fois à l'animal, j'ai séché complétement. 
Dommage, car j'avais bien aimé le rendu de l'arbre.

Je le trouve pourtant mignon mais je n'avais plus l'inspiration. Alors j'ai cherché une autre difficulté.

TRY AGAIN
As I'm very stubborn, I started with bird feathers again. This time, an eagle. Ok, maybe it's not recognizable. Lol! 
Bear with me and try to imagine a bird that a gust of wind would have messed up its hair or it could have received some lightning. The choice is yours ...

Same problem! Arriving at the bottom of the design, I lost my concentration and pleasure. I put my pencil down and I did not pick it up for two years.

NEW THINGS
Meanwhile, a start a blog on books (http://newbooksonmyselves.blogspot.fr/). 
I tested also some ink painting on rice paper. I try drawing goldfish and bamboo. A technique more difficult to master that it seems due to the delicacy and fragility of the paper.

NOUVELLE TENTATIVE
Comme je suis super têtue, j'ai recommencé avec oiseau et des plumes. Cette fois-ci avec un aigle. Ok, peut-être est-il difficilement reconnaissable mais imaginez une bourrasque de vent qui lui aurait bousillé sa coiffure ou s'il s'était pris la foudre. A vous de choisir...

Même difficulté! Arrivée à la partie inférieure du dessin, j'ai perdu ma concentration et mon plaisir. J'ai posé mon crayon et je ne l'ai pas repris pendant deux ans. 

Entre temps, j'ai débuté mon blog sur les livres. J'ai aussi testé l'encre de chine sur des feuilles de riz en composant des poissons rouges et des bambous. Une technique plus difficile à maîtriser qu'il n'y parait à cause de la délicatesse et de la fragilité du papier.

WRITING
I also took time to write two novels in French. The first one, I proposed it last year in a contest for children / teenagers (8 to 17).

If I was happy to be able to lay a story, plot and characters in three months, with hindsight, my text was boring to death. Lol!

Then, earlier this year, I returned to work on it again. Completely changed, i've only retained two scenes, I confess being more satisfied with the result. Even if it still takes work.

EAGLE
Finally, a week ago after sending my novel for a new contest, a fantasy one this time, I went back to my drawings.

I finished my eagle, because I do not like unfinished business, and I found pleasure in starting to draw again.

Now, I should be able to offer new ones very soon ... I'm on an idea of a pocket watch, an eye, some lips or new animals. Always lions and maybe a fox ... Unless I go after some hands or stilettos. Will see...

ECRITURE
J'ai aussi pris du temps pour écrire deux romans. Le premier, je l'ai proposé l'an passé à un concours pour enfants/adolescents.

Si j'ai été contente d'être parvenue à pondre une histoire, une intrigue et des personnages en trois mois. Avec du recul, mon texte était chiant à mourir. Alors, en début d'année, je l'ai repris. Modifié complètement et j'en ai sortie un nouveau roman en ayant gardé uniquement deux scènes du premier.

J'avoue être plus satisfaite du résultat, même s'il demande encore du travail.

AIGLE
Enfin, il y a une semaine après avoir rendu mon roman pour un nouveau concours, de fantasy celui-ci, je me suis remise à dessiner. J'ai terminé mon aigle car je n'aime pas les tâches inachevées. J'ai retrouvé du plaisir et une sérénité qui m'a poussé à reprendre le chemin du dessin.

Je devrais pouvoir proposer de nouvelles choses très prochainement... Je suis sur une idée de montre à gousset, d'oeil, de lèvres ou de nouveaux animaux. Toujours des lions mais aussi un renard...A moins que je parte sur des mains. ça cogite, ça cogite!
