He's watching you/ Leopard, mon petit dernier

To begin with, a little apprehension. This is the fateful moment where everything will be played. (I forgot to tell you that I had taken some drama lesson, right?) Everything ? Too dramatic.
Inside my head there is a storm. I'm worried: Will I be able to draw the hair the right way? This is my first tree bark, will I succeed to make it realistic? (And at the same time, if the tree is not looking like a tree, nobody will raise the big cat's paw to check, right? Jeez rolling my eyes at myself!) And I start to work and I stop being such a pain.

So, the sketch is over, the real fun begins ... The pleasure points its nose. I get in my bubble of tranquility. For this Leopard, there have been only me and its right eye for a couple of minutes. When I say that everything begins in that moment, it’s true. It’s decisive. If I do not feel comfortable at the end of this first work, my design has big chance of being erased. At best, I will still try again. At worst, it ends in the trash. It is a question of feeling.

What A mess !/ Quel pagaille...

In general, I always start with the eyes ... (Do not ask me why, I do not know.)
Right, left. I've spend a lot of time on the eyes, to find the right expression. Finding the right mix in the shading.
After I attacked the noze, the mouth and I go back up. Nice bullshit. I then find myself stuck, forced to grab a Klennex to keep moving forward. And yes, I'm a mess!

Ailleurs… J’imagine si je me mettais à la peinture. Rires.
Gone is the glamorous creation side.
The reality is used Kleenex in every corner. Those to clean the tortillons, those to accommodate the peelings pencils, those used to protect some parts of my drawing already done. I often say that the garbage can was invented for something... At this moment, it's a pretty mess. When I find the black on the fingers, it’s routine. On my cheek, it's funny. Elsewhere ... I guess the mess I will be, if I've decided to paint. Lol.

In any case, this allowed me to work Leopard hair only in pencil. My last two designs, including the Lion in colors; I used a "Needle Pen” for fur. This is a very long process and I'm still not really use to it. This time, I tried the hair with two different shades of gray and I am satisfied with the outcome.

Drawing a branch, it was a first. This is not as realistic one as I would have liked. Never mind, I will do better next time! Let’s say that I let my imagination carry me further than expected.

I come from the generation Récré A2, Croc Vacances, Téléchat (French shows for kids in the 80’s). I spent all my Wednesdays in the company of Dorothée, Jacky and Corbier (Famous french TV hosts for kids). At my first concert, "a rabbit killed a hunter" and my cousin called « Bécassine.» (No comments, because it’s a very embarrassing confession!)

I’ve listened to "Nounours" (A Teddy Bear) wish "Good night” to the little ones (French puppet series in the late seventies), learned to sing with Colargol," The Bear that sings in F and G (Again typical French musical animation for kids), those are "Candy," "Captain Harlock", "Grendizer" and "Captain Future" which took me into the world of animes. Growing up, I shared the adventures of "Clementine," the misfortunes of "Princess Sarah" and the victories of "Captain Tsubasa". I will be silencing on having fought, bare hand, with "Ken the survivor," armed with a sword under  "Lady Oscar"orders and carrying a gun with "Cobra".

The Japanese cartoons rocked my childhood. As a teenager, I was a fan of "Lady Georgie". One summer, I even recorded an episode and drawn in color, the two brothers of  the heroin: Abel and Arthur. Same with "Saint Seyia. I've put on paper "Dragon Shiryu", one of the hero the Knights of the Zodiac, using the same method.

After there was a long, long break. Two years ago, I stumbled into the pot once again. I had never been to the end of the adventures of Candy, so I wanted to try this experience. At 30 years old, I thought I was immune. Big mistake! I cried like a baby.

Here are some example...

« Lovely Complex »
